The college has a bank of job-ready candidates seeking apprenticeships in the trades, but needs companies to hire them so they can develop on-the-job skills while studying for their qualifications in industry.
Apprenticeships allow companies to cost-effectively expand their workforce and benefit from new employees who are motivated to learn and possess the latest skills and industry knowledge acquired through their studies with the college.
The national minimum wage for an apprentice is £4.81 an hour for the first 12 months of their scheme and employers who take on an apprentice aged 16-18 will receive an incentive payment of £1,000.
The training of the last cohort of apprentices must begin in the week of September 26 and employers will benefit from help and support from the college to welcome their apprentice and set up their training program.
The college offers trades apprenticeships in masonry, carpentry and joinery, digital engineering construction, electrical installation, gas, plant operation and plumbing and as part of their training apprentices will obtain their CSCS card, the required certification by the industry to enable them to work on construction sites.
